Carol Englender, M.D.
Carol Englender, MD is an integrative family physician with over 40 years of medical experience. As a founding member of the Board of Trustees of the American Holistic Medical Association, she has been at the forefront of the movement to develop a cooperative, patient-centered approach to healing, and meeting each individual patient’s needs on the journey to health. Integrative medicine incorporates both conventional and functional medical approaches to optimize a person’s health and lifestyle. Functional medicine uses both traditional and cutting edge testing to intervene in chronic disease processes.
Dr. Englender’s interest in treating the whole person grew from her interest in helping patients with chronic pain take back control of their lives, using nutrition, supplements, trigger point injections, stress reduction and meditation.
Taking an individualized approach to wellness allows her to evaluate everything that impacts health, including diet and nutrition, genetics, exercise, stress, sleep, allergies, and sensitivities, exposures to toxins and chemicals, and emotional and spiritual well being. She is an active member of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) and the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS). She has been an active lecturer on wellness, stress reduction, autism spectrum disorder, food and chemical sensitivity, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and spiritual wellness in community settings throughout New England.
